Arc Raiders Frozen Trail Patch: 5 Changes Players Have Wanted for a Year

Ever felt like a patch note was written just for you? Arc Raiders' massive 2.0 Frozen Trail update is here, and its patch notes are packed with lines players have been dreaming about for nearly a year. With a new map, skills, guns, gadgets, and Arc to explore, there's a ton to dive into—but some of the smallest changes might make the biggest difference.

First up, a crowd-pleaser: max stash size has increased by two new levels, bringing it to 328 without Expedition bonuses. With all the new items flooding in, don't be surprised if Embark has to bump it again soon. It's a quality-of-life win that every hoarder will appreciate.

But not all changes are pure buffs. The Queen and Matriarch have had their loot reallocated—higher-tier loot has moved from leg armor pieces to the legs themselves. That means you can't just prune leg armor to snag easy cores anymore. You'll need to sever legs entirely or stick around for the kill. It's a nerf to a popular strategy, but honestly, it makes sense. Destroying legs at the joint should be more rewarding than just peeling them.

Another contentious tweak: the Anvil hand cannon has been pushed to blue rarity because it was "outperforming weapons both within and above its own level of rarity." With an Anvil, a Renegade, and enough ammo, you could kill a machine god—so this rebalance feels fair. Meanwhile, little animations add a lot of life: you'll now see your raider interact with their map and inventory, mouth movements during proximity chat, brushing off dust after sliding, and even heaving when out of breath. It's these touches that make your character feel like a fallible human in a cyborg apocalypse.

Audio got some love too: character sounds are now occluded by walls and obstacles for more natural positioning. Hopefully, this fixes the wonky directional audio that could plague firefights in buildings. And the gameplay section is where the real gold lies. You can now drop loot directly from containers, open your map while downed, and toggle off your backpack light for full stealth mode. There's also Scrambling—sprinting at steep slopes lets you scramble up them for a short time—which pairs nicely with the updated skill tree that pushes agility. Plus, dynamic loot zones in the new map Pendola Pass are being tested to make scavenging less repetitive, and executive producer Aleksander Grøndal says it could be reapplied to existing maps if feedback goes well.

It's a lot to take in, but these changes show Embark is listening. So, what do you think of the Frozen Trail patch? Will you be hopping in to test the new stash size or the Anvil nerf? Let us know!
